WEBSTER, Charles E.

Brazil, Ind March 4 – Charles E. Webster, 95, retired Putnam County farmer, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday at the Porter Nursing Home here. He was a native of Missouri and came to Putnam County in 1879 where he was employed in the original construction of the NY Central Railroad line and original telegraph lines through the area.  Webster, later farmed near Reelsville and later at Reelsville in Putnam County.  He moved to Brazil about 28 years ago to make his home with a son, Dr. Robert Webster. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Oscar Ashley of Russellville and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Greencastle and the Odd Fellows Lodge at Russellville. The body was taken to the Lawton Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Brick Cemetery north of Greencastle.  = kbz
